"Student-run publications, at institutions of architecture and design especially, have always served as sites of experimentation, platforms for critique and open discussion. They have grown to become vessels for institutional memory, embodying disciplinary resistance and the maelstrom of sociocultural and political tendencies in design pedagogy.

On Thursday, April 7, 2017, Open Letters hosts a gathering of student editors from design schools across the United States and Europe to explore the state of affairs of student publishing in architecture and design, probing the possibilities, limitations, and consequences of writing, editing, and curating content as forms of creative dialog.

A display of historical student-run journals of the Harvard Graduate School of Design and an assemblage of current publications from around the world will set the stage for a series of conversations about PREMISE, MEDIUM, CONTENT, AUDIENCE, and DISCIPLINE."
